>Look of the Week: Suit Up, 6 Swimsuits That Double as Bodysuits

We’re big fans of functional fashion. Get some street action out of your swimwear this season with a maillot that doubles as a bodysuit. After all, you never know when a morning bike ride through Crissy Field will end with spontaneous swimming at Baker Beach, or when an epic night out will end with a late night hot-tub session.

We love these six swimsuits for their flattering, beach-flirty designs, but also for their urban wearability. Paired with high-waisted shorts or a long and lean skirt, you’ll see that these suits go well beyond the beach.

With several new exhibits, and various free admission days*, it’s a great week for museum hopping. This Sunday, take a free historical tour of Bali, at the Asian Art Museum. On Tuesday, double-up with free entrance to the Fine Arts Museums of SF. The de Young has already drawn a celebrity audience with Balenciaga and Spain, while the Legion of Honor continues with Pulp Fashion: The Art of Isabelle de Borchgrave.
Indulge in culture and celebrate design with a well crafted outfit of your own. This week, we’re opting for a soft, spring palette, with two key trends: florals and convertible handbags. Museum-going means lots of walking. Make sure those feet stay comfy with a pair of soft leather wedges you’ll cherish all season long. Read More…

>Look of the Week: Wet Weekend, 7 Rain Boots to Get You Through

Rain, rain, go away!
We can sing and wish it away all we want, but any SF girl knows we’re in for our annual spring showers. The upside? Rainy weather is one trend that keeps coming back, so investing in a good pair of rain boots is a definite must.
Let’s take a moment to thank Kate Moss, for launching the Wellie trend, back in 2006, when she made muddy Hunter rain-boots look sexy, with a pair of micro-mini shorts (Of course she did!). Designers and fans quickly took note, and what was once a childhood accessory for jumping in puddles, suddenly boomed as trendy adult footwear.
While colorful, printed Wellies are fun, the trend is moving toward sleek, subtle rain boots that look like everyday footwear. Using rubber and plastic to make modern rain boots is no easy task, but designers continue to amaze us — most recently with wedge, lace-up andhybrid designs. Check out our 7 favorites for staying stylish and dry in the rain.

When it comes to statement shoes, white is the new red. We love both the neutrality, and pop that come with a great white. And, of course, we adore wedges for their comfort and versatility — not to mention their super lengthening powers. White wedges are a subtly striking combination, and we’re guessing your new go-tos.
Whether you’re going for a bright, clean white, or opting for more of an off-white, these kicks will add a refreshing accent to any Spring look. And with that, we present 7 white wedges we love.

A number of nasty bugs are circling around SF right now. And what, with the up-and-down weather, and sneezes going off like BBMs on MUNI, catching something is almost inevitable. Do yourself a favor and be ready to take a sick day.
We know it’s really tough — staying in, having soup, and the watching the last season ofOprah — so find rescue in the coziest of outfits. Slouchy-cute sweats, a simple tank, and a great cashmere sweater are essentials for any lazy day. For the super sick gal, keep those toes warm with heated polar bear slippers, ensure lots of rest with a fun eye-mask, and don’t forget to keep drinking liquids. Basically, rest up, stay warm, have a little fun, and get well soon.   Read More…

Channeling Farrah Fawcett‘s feather hair and Dorothy Hamill‘s mad skate skills — it’s time to close down SF Indiefest ’11 with the Roller Disco Costume Party, tomorrow night at CELLspace.
Avoid the random spurts of hail, wind and rain, and instead, get caught in a storm of retro fury. A crop top, high-waisted spandex shorts, and stripped knee-highs are essentials for roller-rink movin’ and groovin’. For some added 70’s fever, accessorize with gold jewelry, a silk scarf, and oversized sunglasses. Oh, and don’t think we forgot about the most important part — Black Rock Roller Disco will be onsite with skate rentals. Read More…
